Sweet Miss Til Reviews: The Backyard Bird Chronicles by Amy Tan
Sweet Miss Til buries her head in Amy Tan’s The Backyard Bird Chronicles.
I really enjoyed the smell and page-feel of this book. The pages were glossy, and the cover was floppy, which meant I could bury my head in it without much resistance. And the beautiful bird illustrations make me drool—oh how I’d love to crunch on them. Mother read it to me nightly and I have begun to recognize the black-capped chickadee from the dark-eyed juncos in my own yard. However, the notion that they may be leading their own complex lives is disrupting my worldview; I tend to regard myself as the center of the universe. Are they as dreadful and senseless as I once thought, or do we share a common essence—the spirit of the heeho?
